Process
To begin with, I analyzed the design of referral programs of various brands, including Uber, Hotjar, Dropbox, and others. Most of them used the dollar sign and a penny, but other of them used photos or illustrations of people.
I started collecting elements of graphic and various visuals for the mood board and came up with the idea to use the round element from the brand book as a basis, which reminded me of a coin.
