Unlock.ai

Overview

A large enterprise needs to control the access of groups of employees to certain types of premises. The premises are divided into production, warehouse, office, conference rooms, utility rooms, etc. A smart lock will be used for access, and to open it, the employee who has been granted access needs to bring a phone with the application installed to the lock.

Process

Setting the foundations

We divided the project into several important parts of work. These included: employee onboarding, the ability to fully create an account in the app, setting up basic features, and guided search. Building the foundation. We wanted to build a solid, functioning app before adding new features or optimisations. This meant that we wouldn't stray too far from the existing steps at the beginning. The journey begins with the company administrator sending an email invitation to his employees.

Challenges along the way

We encountered some problems when trying to convince people to move from the invitation email to downloading the app and continue the registration process. Most people do not have the Unlock.ai app installed when they accept the invitation. I worked closely with the product manager and engineering team to develop a smooth, secure process that also met the latest requirements for strong customer authentication (SCA).

Outcome

After several iterations and releases, the cloud-based access control system app for office workers achieved a well-performing baseline. The team successfully established a solid foundation that allowed for the collection of valuable user data and the optimization of the user journey. With the core functionalities in place, it was now possible to introduce additional key features to further enhance the user experience.
